Every fire you burn leaves soot and creosote in the flue, and creosote is a fire risk. Holloway Services sweeps open fireplaces and slow-combustion heaters around Orange so the first cold night is a safe one.
What a sweep includes
- Flue and chimney swept from top or bottom with the fireplace sealed off, so the soot stays out of the room.
- Baffles, firebox and flue collar cleaned on wood heaters.
- A check for cracked bricks, loose cowls, bird nests and blockages.
- Everything vacuumed and taken away.
When to book
Once a year is the rule, and the best time is late summer or autumn before the rush. Heavy users, or anyone burning softer or wetter wood, should sweep twice.
Insurance and safety
Some insurers ask for a sweep record. We can give you a dated receipt for your file.
Book it in the warmer months so the fireplace is ready for winter.
