Decks brought back to life.

Hardwood decks sanded back, cleaned and oiled, including around hot tubs and pool surrounds.

Orange sun and frost are hard on timber. A grey, splintering deck usually only needs sanding, a proper clean and the right oil to look new again, and Holloway Services does the whole job in one visit.

The process

  • Loose boards refixed and any rotten ones replaced.
  • The whole deck sanded back to clean timber.
  • Washed, dried and oiled with a penetrating decking oil suited to the species.
  • A second coat where the timber is thirsty, and the edges and stairs done by hand.

Pool surrounds and hot tubs

Decking around water cops the most weather. We oil right up to the coping and under the edge of hot tubs, and use oils that handle chlorine and constant wet feet.

Keeping it that way

A re-oil every 12 to 18 months keeps a deck looking oiled rather than restored. We can put you on a reminder.

Questions we get asked

How often should a deck be oiled in Orange?

Every 12 to 18 months for a deck in full sun, longer for a sheltered one. Frost and summer sun both dry the timber out.

Can a grey, weathered deck be saved?

Usually yes. Sanding removes the grey surface and the oil brings the colour back. Only boards that are rotten need replacing.

How long before we can use the deck?

Keep off it for 24 to 48 hours after the final coat, depending on the weather.
